Professional Boundaries and Sexual Abuse Resources

As a health regulator, the College of Chiropodists of Ontario has a responsibility to safeguard patients under the care of the College’s registrants. The College safeguards the public by enforcing Standards of Practice to ensure competency of its registrants when rendering care. Additionally, health regulators create Guidelines and Policies to assist registrants in the delivery of services and treatments to patients. The issues of professional boundaries and sexual abuse are matters the College takes very seriously in protecting the public from harm and in maintaining their confidence in our members.

In seeking to provide registrants with continuing opportunities to learn more about maintaining appropriate boundaries, we are pleased to provide links from other health regulators that may serve as a useful resource. Registrants are encouraged to use these only as a resource, but if they have any specific questions, they should direct them to the College.
