Foot Health

The College is dedicated to promoting excellence in foot care and fostering greater awareness of the critical role foot health plays in overall well-being. The feet are subject to a wide range of conditions that, if left unaddressed, can significantly impair quality of life. Common foot health concerns include plantar fasciitis, bunions, flat feet, and complications related to other health conditions such as diabetes and arthritis.

In support of more effective and accessible care, the College advocates for the adoption of a Full Scope Podiatry Model, an evidence-based framework that enables practitioners to deliver comprehensive, timely, and high-quality foot care while addressing systemic gaps in service delivery, particularly in underserved communities.

Diabetes-Associated Lower Limb Amputations

The prevalence of diabetes-associated lower limb amputations underscores the urgent need for improved access to comprehensive foot care services, which play a critical role in early detection, prevention, and management of complications.

The College highlights the Canadian Institute for Health Information’s research examining diabetes-associated lower limb amputations from an equity perspective. Read the report, presented at the December 13, 2025 Town Hall session.
