Practice Advice (PA) Services

The Practice Advisor (PA) helps registrants and the public find resources on safe, competent and ethical foot care.

The PA cannot give legal advice, interpret College standards, or provide guidance on complaints, investigations, or discipline matters.

If you have questions about making a complaint or are the subject of one, visit the Complaints page for more information.

If you are a College registrant, the PA can:

  • Point you to existing resources (e.g. newsletters, FAQs and guidance documents).
  • Help you make sound and ethical clinical and business decisions that comply with legislative requirements, Standards of Practice, and College policies and guidelines.
  • Help you understand your accountability and responsibilities:
    • Do you have the knowledge, skill and judgement to proceed with specific treatment?
    • Is the assessment and/or treatment medically necessary and in the patient’s best interest?
    • Is the treatment within the legislated scope of practice?
  • Explain how College standards, guidelines and policies generally apply in a particular situation. This is not legal advice.
  • Refer you to other sources of information.

If you are not a College registrant, the PA can:

  • Provide resources and help you understand what you can expect from a Chiropodist or Podiatrist in Ontario.

All inquiries and follow-up questions are addressed by email only to: practice@cocoo.on.ca.

Important to know before contacting the PA:

  • Please contact the PA respectfully and in good faith.
  • The PA cannot provide legal opinions or legal advice.
  • The PA cannot give advice on complaints, investigations, or disciplinary actions.
  • The PA cannot give advice or interpret College standards, guidelines or policies related to specific treatment.
